After a wonderful chat with designer/ blogger Emily Frock of Fried Green Design I was reminded of how important it is to know your ideal client, audience and when working on your own home knowing yourself. She is designing a logo ect. for a client that may not have accurately identified her clientele. It is not for a lack of talent or skill but people of certain age ranges do not pay for certain services . I would liken it to a hair stylist marketing hair dying for grey coverage to high schoolers. It's important to know your audience and really focus on what would appeal to them. My father gave similar advice, when selling items or services remember it the "old folks" who have more disposable income so design websites ect. with them in mind, KISS principle.
This really opened my eyes to where I want Modern Commissary to go as well as where I want our personal home to go. Who is our audience? What feel so I want to have in a room and how does that relate to the other rooms in my home.
Over the next few weeks I'll be walking through my home room by room and revealing the good, the bad, the ugly, and the stuff I still have from college. I challenge you to do the same. In the process I'll be doing a bit of reduce, reuse, recycle, and LOTS of cleaning.
Welcome to Spring folks. Its gonna get down and dirty.
Thanks FGT for the where is my client going with this talk...it is what MC needed to hear.
